The Sunday Reset That Keeps Me From Burning Out
There was a time when my Sundays felt like a countdown clock. I’d wake up late, scroll endlessly, and suddenly it was 8PM and I was already stressed about Monday. Sound familiar?
I realized I needed a reset routine not a checklist that made me feel like a machine, but a flow that gave me space to breathe, reflect, and prepare without pressure. That’s when I created my Sunday Reset.
This routine has honestly changed how I show up every week and it's helped me stop the cycle of burnout.
Step 1: Slow Morning, No Guilt
First things first I don’t rush Sundays. I wake up without an alarm, make a slow breakfast or matcha, and play soft music or a calming playlist. This isn’t laziness it’s intentional rest. Giving myself permission to start slow reminds me that rest is productive too.
Step 2: Clear the Physical Clutter
I do a quick tidy not a full deep clean. Just the top 3 things that visually stress me out:
Make my bed
Clear my workspace
Wipe down my bathroom counter
These little actions create mental space. I always say: clean space, clear mind.
Step 3: Reflect + Brain Dump
Before I even open a planner, I write:
What felt heavy last week?
What actually went well?
What do I want to feel this week?
Then I do a 5-minute brain dump messy, unfiltered, everything on my mind. This helps me see what’s noise vs. what’s necessary.
Step 4: Light Weekly Planning
Once my mind is clear, I plan the vibe of my week not just the tasks.
In my digital planner, I map out:
My top 3 weekly goals
Content or work deadlines
Self-care: meals, workouts, journaling, etc.
One thing that excites me
Even if I don’t stick to it 100%, it gives me a flexible anchor for the week ahead.
👉 If you need a planner that helps you do this, I dropped a hourly weekly planning template in the Freebie Vault — grab it here.
Step 5: Prep, But Make It Soft
I’ll do one or two “future me” things like laying out outfits, prepping lunch, or setting out vitamins. But I keep it light. This isn’t a productivity contest it’s about easing the pressure off Monday.
Then I do something just for joy: a bath, a walk, a movie, journaling, FaceTiming a friend. Joy is part of the reset too.
The Bottom Line
Burnout doesn’t just happen from doing too much it happens when we don’t pause with purpose. This Sunday Reset isn’t perfect, and it changes season to season, but it keeps me grounded. It helps me enter Monday from a place of clarity instead of chaos.
If you’re constantly spiraling into overwhelm each week, try crafting your own reset flow. And if you want a soft starting point, I made a free planner you can use for your own Sunday ritual it’s inside my Freebie Vault here.
Let’s make space for peace before the week begins. 💖
